Help. No LVTO seen 20 week scan

Hi,

We had our 20 week scan today and everything seemed fine. The pregnancy has been fine so far and the measurements of everything today were as they should be. At the end of the scan the sonographer said she wasn’t happy that she couldn’t see all areas of the heart specifically the LVOT. We have been told to await a call from our main hospitals fetal cardiology department.

We are beyond worried with what this could mean. Anyone else got any experience of this?

When I had my 20 week scan, the baby was in an awkward position and they couldn't get measurements of the heart, but everything else looked fine. We didn't get referred to any other department they just rescheduled another scan for a week later by which time baby had moved and they were able to get correct measurements, not entirely the same experience but just wanted to offer a hand hold as I know the wait to find out what's going is really stressful. Hope you get some answers soon x

Hey OP. They couldn’t see all of the valves to my babies heart at my 20 week scan due to her position so had to go back for another scan, Infact I think I had 2 scans. Try not to worry too much. I was also referred to Fetal meds for another scan due to another issue. They are the top sonographers and manage to do the scans in more detail and depth

Not of a heart issue but at our 20 week scan they couldn't see one of the feet properly so queried a club foot. Within a week we had a follow up scan with fetal medicine at a different hospital I expected them to just check the foot but they went through the whole list of checks again..still couldnt see clearly so we went back and repeated the process a week later..all was fine.
I was very surprised at how thorough they were in checking everything..so please dont worry too much as they will want to be able to get a good view of everything they need to..it doesn't automatically mean something is wrong.

Thanks everyone. We’ve got our appointment tomorrow for a scan at fetal cardiology. Hopefully we will know more after that

@BellaRoon I really hope your appointment goes well today and you get good news.

There were concerns on my 20 week scan about the fetal heart. My baby was born with a heart defect. I don't know what will happen at your appointment today but you can message me if you would to talk/ask questions.
