NHS Anomaly Scan booked for 16 weeks

I had my 12 weeks scan last week, ended up being 13 weeks and so many days so due date has been moved to the 1st December, which is great, and they booked me in for my anomaly scan. I left the appointment and checked the letter they’d put in my notes, it’s in three weeks time, I’ll only be 16 weeks!

Is this a case of them making a mistake or can they actually do the anomaly scan that early? Online says 18-20 weeks and that was the case with my last pregnancy. It’s so hard to get through the the ultrasound department to change appointment too 🤦🏻‍♀️ Have they made a mistake or is this normal for them to book for 16 weeks?

(’m also a bit unsure about it as that means I’ll go from 16 weeks until birth with no other scans or anything lol. At least 20 weeks is halfway)

It's usually carried out between 18-20 weeks as this is the most accurate to see everything that they are looking for! Before 18 weeks increases the chance of them missing something, I would try my best to get through to the ultrasound department to see if it was a mistake, it is possible for the scan to be booked for 16 weeks but it's unusual in my experience.

It might be a mistake so check with them - I got sent two appointments for my dating scan in the same envelope, one of which was at 9 and a half weeks so an obvious mistake!

I thought 16 weeks was too early to see everything in fine detail? I'd question this op 😁

Sounds like a mistake to me.

Thanks everyone - this will be the second time during this they’ve booked me in early in error. Hopefully that doesn’t become a theme.
