Hi all!

Hoping for maybe so advice/positivity to settle me, I’ve just found out I’m pregnant with baby number 2! Baby #1 is only 23 weeks so this has came as a major shock (albeit we are happy and very excited but this definitely wasn’t planned). We’re very grateful and know how lucky we are for this second baby but I’m having so much anxiety about returning to work.

I’m not due back to work until 9th September at which time I will be 19 weeks pregnant. I’m so worried about how they’re going to react that I’m pregnant and will be going off again in January (which is year end madness!). I’ve calculated SMP and I’m aware of the 8 weeks average calculation etc but is the best option to let them know I’m pregnant before returning to work? I have my KIT days still to use which I’m planning to avail of over July and August so I will be in contact with my managers at this time. I’ve calculated my 12 week scan will be around 20th week of July and I wonder should I advise work of the pregnancy after this or wait until I return at 19 weeks? I know they can’t discriminate legally but has anybody encountered any hostility or negativity about returning to work pregnant?

I realise this is going to be the last thing I’m worried about when a little baby arrives but at the minute it’s really stressing me out!
