When did you go into labour with your second?

I'm days away from being 37 weeks pregnant with my second daughter. I have intense pressure down below and my bump has dropped, I've been getting slight cramps in the mornings as if I need a poo. Also had a growth scan last week and they said the baby was really low down and in the perfect position for labour.

When did you go into labour with your second? And how quick was it?

I had my second at 39 weeks and didnt really know I was in labour until I was 5cm and it began to get more intense and the pain wasn't just mild pain type pains. Hopefully you have your baby in your arms soon 🙏🏻

40+2. First was born at 39+3.

Greycheck · 27/05/2024 19:53

40+4 but he was here 40 mins after the first twinge and I barely made it to hospital!

TooBusyGazingAtStarss · 27/05/2024 19:54

4 days late

BingBongBoo86 · 27/05/2024 19:54

42 + 2. Induced and very quick 1hr and 20 from waters being broken.

On her due date, even though I was sure the dates were wrong.

I didn't know I was pregnant until 20weeks and was sure I wasn't that far on.

First and second born at 6 days late. Second labour was around 2 hours! Good luck ❤️

WhyamInotvomiting · 27/05/2024 20:37

Very late, which was much later than with DC1. Labour was still long but about half as long as with DC1.

STIAWH · 27/05/2024 20:39

39 weeks exactly.
Three hours from the first contraction to the baby in my arms.
I had had 24 hours of torment with the first so it was a revelation!

Soubriquet · 27/05/2024 20:40

My first was 38+4. Labour was 13 hours start to finish.

Second was 37+3. Labour was a lot longer. I went into labour late Monday evening, but didn’t give birth till 48 hours later.

PerfectForEloping · 27/05/2024 20:54

My second was 10 days overdue. My first was born on his due date.

Second labour was much quicker and easier though, ‘only’ 6 hours start to finish. My first lasted over 30 hours.

40+4, 3 hours. First was 40+10, 34 hours.

Oh my gosh! So many mixed experiences! I keep convincing myself I'll go into labour at 38 weeks which is probably my first mistake😂

Was induced with my first daughter at 39 weeks so this is my first time so to speak where it's all go with the flow and my body doing it's own thing

My favourite story to tell: DS1 and I were having a slow morning. I was so full of endorphins from morning snuggles in bed, that his brother arrived within an hour and 15 minutes to join us. Luckily DH and the midwife got there in time to join us!

JumpstartMondays · 27/05/2024 21:16

Baby 2 at 40+5. Twinges started at 1am, slept through them until 6am. Waters went 755am while DH was taking eldest to nursery in a mad dash. Baby arrived 9am in the hospital lift, about 6-10mins of pushing.

First arrived at 41+1 in 30+ hour labour, prolonged pushing 2hr+.

37+6.
Quite univentfull and easy untill stupid c section scar decided to give up.
Still better experience than first baby and 60h labour.

FragileWookiee · 27/05/2024 21:21

40+6. Was in the bank the day before and cashier asked when I was due. I said 5 says ago, never seen a customer be dealt with so fast 🤣
Two hour labour with him.

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 27/05/2024 21:23

39+2 with my second, slower labour but think she was getting in to a good position. Once she got going it was very quick. Went from 4cm to her being born in 2.5 hours x

Fallowing this with interest!

I am nearly 37 weeks with my second. I was induced with my first at 41+2. After I had the gel, pain started but mostly felt like tummy ache. When they broke my waters, contractions started very fast and very intense.

So, I am wondering how it is to go into labour naturally with the second? The water brakes first or contractions start? I know it's different for everyone, but I am very curious.

Happyface82 · 28/05/2024 13:03

My first was early due to problems. 2nd came at 39+2.
