8 weeks - spotting after sex

I say spotting as after sex this afternoon I had some light red mixed with mucas - it's been lighter but on and off for the last hour. I think I'm extra paranoid as I had a mc in January.

We had a scan on Tuesday and saw little ones heartbeat... but as it's bank holiday I can't call EPU for advice til Tuesday. Slightly panicked!

Not quite the same but I had bright red spitting after an internal scan. I rang the EPU in a panic and they warned me that any irritation to the cervix, which also includes sex, can cause harmless spotting.

Hopefully this is the case for you but of course keep ringing to see what a midwife says for proper medical advice! I’m also pregnant after loss and it’s so so nerve wrecking x

It went light brown before that so fingers crossed!!

I had spotting after sex early on in my pregnancy, I phoned triage and they said it was most likely an irritated cervix and as long as the bleeding wasn’t heavy or accompanied by pain then it should all be okay.

🤞 it’s just an irritated cervix. Do you have a maternity triage you could phone?

@Hiddenvoice I'm wondering if this is what it was. I can text my midwife or call the EPU tomorrow after bank hol. I've not had any overnight or this morning. And no pain. It also felt stingy when I had a wee a few times afterwards but that's gone off now too... 🤞🏻

I had the same after sex at 12 weeks. It had taken us 5 years, and IVF, to conceive so I was really worried. Baby is now nearly 4 months old. I hope it goes the same way for you ☺️
