Hi everyone,
I received a follow up call after thinking everything was ok at my 20 week scan, explaining that bilateral choroid plexus cysts measuring 9.9mm had been identified. The midwife said they don’t report anything under 1cm but given the fact I was so close to that, they had decided to refer me on to Foetal Medicine.
I had a second detailed scan, again the cysts were picked up although this time they were measured at 6mm, and again everything else is normal. I was hoping to feel reassured after this appointment but my second sonographer was not very reassuring, suggesting an amniocentesis and saying that ultrasounds by themselves are not a reliable tool to pick up any chromosomal disorders.
They offered me a NIPT which I am now awaiting results for, but between these extra appointments and what I’ve read online I am absolutely in bits.
l am struggling to connect with the baby, can’t bear to look at scan pictures and have put on hold all of my baby prep. I want to feel optimistic that this will be ok, but I am so terrified something is wrong.
Has anyone been in the same situation?
