Six or seven weeks? It's just the yolk sac of the egg and i don't see much baby yet attached to it. I had an 8 week scan with yolk sac but more baby.

Thank you

There is an embryo attached and saw a heartbeat.

Thanks!

What did the sonographer say?

It's a confusing one as I went in for this scan to book my D&C as I was told I had had a missed miscarriage the week before.

Based on my last period, I should be 9 weeks but they said measuring about 5.5 with a heartbeat

5 to 6 weeks I’d say. That’s just comparing to a scan I had at 7 weeks, this scan looks a little earlier than that.

Olika · 21/05/2024 15:05

So they thought you had miscarried but today's scan showed heart beat and measuring 5.5 weeks?
I had a scan at about 8 weeks and I just compared to that and yours looks earlier so I would think 5.5-6 weeks is correct. Are they going to scan again to see how things are progressing?

Yeah so I had a scan on 8th and should have been 7 weeks but measured around 5. Went back week later and had slight growth but no fetal pole.

Went yesterday for D&C and an embryo had developed and heartbeat.

I'm just confused as based on my periods, I should be 9 weeks pregnant. I tracked it all and got my positive test around 5.5 weeks ago

OP I had exactly this situation happen to me - 5 weeks and 4 scans later I did miscarry unfortunately.

First scan - didn't date properly and no heartbeat, second scan - heart beat but not sufficient growth/progression, third scan - growth but no heartbeat (so still wouldn't book me in for surgical management), fourth scan about a week later no heartbeat or growth (around 11 weeks probably dating 6 +5 by then). It's so hard and unfortunately a waiting game to see what'll happen. Do you have another scan booked?

TomatoSandwiches · 21/05/2024 18:32

The earliest scan I've had is at 7 weeks and your picture doesn't look similar so I'd say 5-6 weeks perhaps.

Sorry for your loss!

Yeah they've booked me in for next Thursday.
If it wasn't for the dates I'd feel really confident as there has been a heartbeat for 2 of the scans and to be honest, the last one I felt he rushed so it could have been there

Fingers crossed we've had enough progression next week x

Thanks, it was a couple of years ago now.

I hope you have a good outcome at your next scan. The wait is really tough, I remember I just wanted a definite answer.
