Hi Mumma,

This is my first pregnancy so just wanted to be prepared.
I go abroad on Sunday for 10 nights (I'll be 14w+1) and just wanted to know if I need to take my maternity notes with me or not? I was adamant I was meant to take them but loads of people have told me not to bother

Hi, I travelled abroad when 14 weeks pregnant last year and you don’t need to take them at this stage. You can do though obviously if that would make you feel better, but don’t need to no 😊. Have a great holiday! X

Been abroad in all but one pregnancy and never took notes

CluelessInLondon · 21/05/2024 14:13

I went abroad at 13 weeks and didn't bother taking my notes on the basis that there wasn't actually very much in them and they probably wouldn't be that much use if anything happened! I'm going away again at 25 weeks and will take them with me then.

@Nat78 No need to take your notes this early. I'd take them once you reach the stage that baby could survive outside of the womb

Nat78 · 21/05/2024 14:29

This is what I thought. There are hardly any notes in the book so far and feel like I'll be bringing it for the sake of bringing it. Thank you everyone x

I wouldn't bother at 14 weeks.

HippeePrincess · 21/05/2024 14:41

When I had my first pregnancy I was told to take the notes absolutely everywhere starting right after booking, not entirely sure why. By the third the notes given had nothing in except emergency and maternity ward numbers on.
Id probably err on the side of caution and take them, I’d rather have them and not need them than the opposite.

Take a photo / scan with your phone the pages that might be useful and then leave the rest. That way you'll have them with you if you need them when out and about at home too.

I am going on hols at 21 weeks, I don’t even have any notes I could take? Some stuff is on an app but I can’t see how it would be useful.
