Waters gone at 18 weeks 💔

Hi,

im 18 weeks exactly today and am in hospital as my waters have gone 💔 absolutely devastated and fearing the worst.

we are going to wait it out and hope that I don’t go into labour, my cervix is still closed, had a scan and checked baby’s heartbeat but I also know that we may lose this baby 💔

Thanks everyone for your kind words and well wishes. Our consultant advised that our baby can’t survive without fluid and is too early to intervene. We have the option to wait it out or to induce delivery. We had a scan this morning and baby has a heartbeat and was still moving, there is not a lot of fluid.

I am reluctant to end this pregnancy knowing what the outcome will be 💔 but I also have to think of my daughter, especially if there is a risk I become unwell. There’s no sign of infection at the moment and my cervix is closed 🙏🏻

read so many hopeful stories on here and I’m praying for a good outcome for us but I just don’t know 😩 xx

OP I've known two women who this has happened to, and both went to term and delivered without problems.

I'll pray for you and your baby. Don't forget that the amniotic fluid replenishes itself.

There's still a chance that things will be okay.

Oh op, this sounds so tough.
I didn’t know about amniotic fluid replenishing itself, I just hadn’t really thought about it before. That’s quite promising if there is still a heartbeat but low fluid isn’t it?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I went into labour yesterday afternoon and delivered our precious baby. As far as we could tell it was a boy 💙 we are devastated but we did everything we could 💔
