Faint positives that don’t get darker??

I have one child already and decided to try for another but just by stopping using protection so not using ovulation tests etc this time around. I was surprised to have a late period this month and bought some cheap tests, a test last Weds (maybe 2 weeks ish after ovulating? I have irregular cycles) showed a faint line but this morning (Monday) its still a faint line. I had a miscarriage before and now I’m freaking out that this one isn’t progressing normally. Is it possible for faint tests to not get darker and it not to be a bad sign? Should I pay more for a quality test and see if that’s a more solid result one way or the other?

Hi hun, it’s a stressful process isn’t it!

I guess it’s completely impossible for any one to know at the moment but I think best thing you can do is keep testing every few days, and as you say I would maybe try different brands.

I have read lots though that the darkness of your line doesn’t reflect hormones levels, just a “yes or no” so if you still have a line that’s a good sign. Also some peoples lines are just faint, and do get darker but it takes a lot longer!

Thanks for the reply @Sarah268
That’s reassuring to know the darkness of the line doesn’t mean anything. To be fair it says on the packet any line however faint is positive but I guess I’m more scarred than I realised from last time - so much for being more casual this time around!

Update - I did a Clearblue weeks indicator that says 3 weeks so feeling more reassured now it was just the cheap tests!
