Severe back pain - PGP or more sinister?

Hi!
7 weeks pregnant.
Severe back pain for the last two days, on the right side. Hard to bend down, shouting out in pain if I move too suddenly, waking me in the night.
Is this really just joints/muscles?
It feels very strong for that.
No blood/cramping.
Very worried about miscarriage.
Anyone else had this kind of severity in first trimester? What was the conclusion? Thanks!

It sounds like you hurt your back, and it is in spasm. I had this as well around the same time - I was told it could be pregnancy hormones affecting your core muscles and back. More likely if this is your second (or more) pregnancy.

I couldn’t walk without pain, and even a tiny wrong movement could cause really painful shooting/stabbing pain around the lower back. It was so much worse in the morning and getting out of bed was traumatic. It lasted a week and a half, and only being able to have paracetamol was really difficult at this time. The only thing that would help was a hot water bottle (but sometimes this would make my morning sickness worse).

Best to see the midwife if you are worried it is something else, or doctor if it is your back.

Good luck.

Thankyou! I really appreciate that - apart from the fact that it lasted a week and a half 😂😂
