Hi,

I’m due my baby soon, and I have HSV-2 which I’ve had for 6 years. I am aware of the statistics and the risk of transmission etc. I will be taking anti virals from 36 weeks to reduce this. but I keep seeing things about avoiding assisted delivery (ie forceps) as these can increase risk of transmission.

Has anyone who is positive for HSV-2, had any experiences of vaginal birth with assisted delivery and could share their experience please? I’m thinking that if I will require forceps/vacuum then I’ll ask for a section but would like to hear from anyone who has had this and successfully delivered without transmitting this to baby.
