EPAU scan tomorrow

Hi everyone,
I am currently 7+3 and had some red bleeding on Sunday, followed by 2 days of pink discharge when wiping, and some mild cramping.
I have been referred to the EPAU for a scan tomorrow afternoon, but I am really worried. I haven't had anything like this in previous pregnancies.
Has anyone had anything similar, and all been ok?

I had red bleeding at about five weeks. Filled a tampon in 15 mins, was convinced I was losing the pregnancy. It suddenly stopped and was put down to a subchorionic haematoma. No issues with the rest of the pregnancy, and baby is one next week. Best of luck.

I had bleeds nearly every week in the first trimester and had about 5 scans. There was no cause for the bleeding and baby was fine each time.

They say as long as you are not cramping and blood isn't red, try not to stress. Pink can be where baby is getting cosier.

I am 17 weeks now and all was ok, good luck and hope all is ok with you.

Thanks both for your replies. That's a little more reassuring. You can't help but think the worst can you.

@jadiejade how did it go?

The scan went great thank you, baby is growing well and there's a nice strong heartbeat. No idea where the bleeding is coming from. But I've had some negative news regarding my health from the maternal medicines unit, and they are very against me continuing with the pregnancy, so it was a rough day in the end.

Glad baby is okay but i am so sorry to hear this. Make sure you get a second opinion and i hope all works out ok for you x

@Strawbs92 thank you. It was a relief to see a happy baby, but wasn't the visit we were expecting. We have an appointment with some specialists tomorrow morning to look at the big picture and go from there. So hoping for some better news, or at the very least some more answers.

@jadiejade oh what a rollercoaster, you must be emotionally drained. Hope you get enough info to make an informed choice either way, nothing worse than feeling in the dark and confused. Hope there's a way out that preserves your health and that of your baby if at all possible x

jadiejade · 17/05/2024 13:32

@Springadorable it's been awful, but we've finally got some answers for now. They'll monitor us for the next couple of weeks and we'll go from there x

Just a quick update to you both. I am now 13 weeks, still not out of the woods, but we seem to be progressing well. As we are very high risk and now have been told we're high risk for Down's syndrome, we went for a private scan on Friday and found out we are having a boy. We are still hoping for a positive outcome, and keeping everything crossed.

Hope you ladies are doing well Smile

Hi @jadiejade , sorry to hear you've had more stress, but congratulations on your little boy! Fingers crossed for him, and for you! Do you still have more tests or is it a "wait and see" situation now?

jadiejade · 26/06/2024 13:08

@Springadorable thank you so much. We're very excited, but trying to remember we have a long way to go. Mostly blood tests for me. I couldn't have the NIPT test, but we will hopefully be able to see more on further scans regarding Down's syndrome. I'll be having scans every 4 weeks to monitor babies growth. Hope you are doing well ❤️
