Has anybody had any luck getting Xonvea prescribed on the NHS in England? I’m at my GPs at 5pm today & am going to ask for it

Already tried Cyclizine & Metoclopramide, not touching the sides. Don’t want Ondadenstron (spelling?!) due to the small risk of birth defects

Thanks guys x

Hi OP. So sorry to hear you’re suffering. I asked for Xonvea, having also tried cyclizine and metoclopramide with no let up in the vomiting. My GP prescribed it straight away, wasn’t an issue at all.

Depends on your area / likely requires an obstetrics review here.

I've just had an app with an obstetrician this morning and they mentioned this and said GP can prescribe as its actually the only licensed anti-sickness specifically for pregnancy, she said lots of people are having good outcomes with it. I'd never heard of it before she said.

Mils234 · 14/05/2024 13:23

I've found prochlorperazine and omeprazole together have worked for me quite well plus travel sickness bands and eating beige food frequently. I wouldn't touch cyclazine ever again as it made things so much worse in my last pregnancy so refused it in this one.

It's actually a tablet that contains B6 and an antihistamine you can buy the exact same thing under a different name from Amazon (America) it's called unisom.

I got this by quoting NICE guidance. It’s now a first line drug for sickness. Go armed with this

Hi everyone,

I've just been prescribed Xoneva for HG, did anyone have any luck feeling better on it? I'm feeling so awful and this is my 3rd medication.

SunshineMummy2 · 02/08/2024 12:17

@Daydreaming91 I've been on it and it does stop the vomiting I do feel like I'm very dizzy and tired . I'm hoping I can just be off then completely by week 12

Xonvea was a game changer for us, but it was the consultant that prescribed it (consultant led).

I know it's not available in all areas though as a friend requested it and was told no

Not been a game changer for me, better than cyclizine on its own and helped me sleep at night but still lot of nausea in the day and vomiting a couple of times per day. Ondansetron helped as an add on. Now 19 weeks and starting to be better which is a little bit earlier than my first pregnancy

Daydreaming91 · 03/08/2024 12:08

@Amawake86

Glad to hear you are feeling better now. I'm actually now on Xoneva and Ondasetron which has helped calm the sickness down to a couple of times a day and I'm managing to drink now. Just over 12 weeks so hoping I start to see the other side soon!
