1 hour glucose test results high

Hi!

I just had my 1 hour glucose test this morning and the results came back with 178 mg/dl so looks like I will need to get the full 3 hour test 😬

Did anyone else fail the first test but pass the second fine?

Hi, yes mine was just last week - high on the 1 hour and then I passed the 3 hour GTT. My hospital uses different measurements so my 1 hour test was 8.6mmol/L which after a quick Google looks like about 155mg/dl.

I spoke to a friend who has a background in diabetes services and they recommended not changing too much in your diet before the test, as of course they want it to be an accurate reflection of what you'd normally eat. However they said we should be having a decent snack before bed, eg crackers and cheese, to prevent your liver producing too much glucose overnight and then during the fast. So that's all I did differently. Good luck! 😊
