3rd sweep!!! Success stories please help!!!!

So I’m 39+5 weeks pregnant and currently going through hell. I have had a really rough pregnancy, first one, but had hyperemesis the whole way through. I’ve been 1cm for weeks. I genuinely feel so down mentally, my back is killing me. Today I got my 3rd sweep, and to be honest it was the most painful thing I’ve ever felt. Judging by the pain of it, the other two prior sweeps may as well not have happened. I’m wearing pads due to the bleeding and the midwife had said people request her to do their sweeps due to the success rate. I am due in 2 days but got an induction booked for next week just incase. What is the likelihood of me going in the next 2 days 🙈 cervix is 1/2cm in length. Plug has been coming out since the weekend too.

They did nothing for me other than make me feel quite sore and more pissed off! I'm not sure I believe they do much to be honest. Impossible to ever prove either way of course! Hope it happens soon for you!

Apparently there’s no evidence that they work. Inductions don’t necessarily work unless the baby is ready to make an appearance either.

My induction ended up in a C-section last time. My next pregnancy I’ll request a c-section straight off the bat. You can always join ten month momma’s on FB if you’re prepared to wait it out.

I was almost weeks with my first i think! Induced and still took him a while!

Sorry - almost 41 weeks

Had 2 of my 3 babies after sweeps but I was a week overdue… not sure how effective they are before your due date!

I had sweep at 39+5. It was extremely painful - had some bleeding after, and plug came out in small pieces. Had to be induced at 41+2.

I'm 34 weeks with my second now, and there is no way I'm getting another sweep. It didn't work for me, and the pain was horrible.

I had my 3rd one at 39+6 from a midwife who also said she had a good track record, contractions started whilst walking back to my car and he was born 6 hours later, good luck OP!

I had a really painful sweep at 39 weeks and midwife told me I was nowhere near ready. I ended up in induction, failed to progress and emergency section. I'm having elective this time if I don't go myself by 40 weeks (37 weeks now). I know it's difficult but you're on the home run now, rest up and enjoy the extra peace before baby arrives!! Hope everything goes well with your birth!
