My sister in law had her 1st child removed from her due to partying drugs she never got her back due to failed drug tests and deciding on when she wanted to turn up for contact. Now the hard thing is she has just had a baby is sofa surfing due to being forced out of last home. Social worker has told her she will not be allowed to keep this baby. I can hand on my heart say she has not changed a bit with drugs and alcohol even while she was pregnant. My question is when would baby be removed from her and will they definitely stick to what they have said about not allowing to keep the baby. My sister in law lies so much we never know to believe her. I have never known anyone in this position before so really confused and not sure if we will ever get to meet the baby

They will likely take the baby before she leaves the hospital. I'm surprised they haven't asked her if anyone in the family will take the baby in. Unless she has told them she doesn't want family to have the baby.

She may be given support, such as a mother and baby unit to let her get the baby back, but often unless the mother fights for it, they won't get it back.

I'm sorry that you are going through this. I knew someone who had 5 children taken before they ever took them home from hospital. It's really sad, on her 6th child she finally managed to get clean and get the 6th baby back.

@GoogleWhacking the social worker did get in touch with myself and my partner to see if we could take baby but I'm not well going through a lot of test and her mum isn't in the position to look after a baby. It's so sad and heart breaking. That's amazing she was able to turn her life around and get 6th baby back
