Hi all,

I am expecting my first baby and wanted to hear any experiences you may have had or heard about the maternity unit of Royal Surrey County Hospital. They have very good CQC rating but I want to be sure, so curious to hear from you all.

Thanks in advance!

I had an EAPU scan there this week and they were wonderful. The sonographer was kind and thoughtful: I was very worried about an ectopic and she spent ages on showing me that the baby was safely in the uterus and she even gave me a print out of the scan (which they're not meant to!). Staffing levels in the EAPU were "green" and everyone seemed calm and relaxed. I know this isn't the main maternity unit, but I imagine that there is a strong relationship between the two.

I don't know about maternity but I'm under their care for several things including the EPAU and they have always been nothing but fantastic even in difficult situations. Hopefully the maternity care is just as good x

I had my baby there in January this year, I cannot rate it highly enough! My midwife experience at appointments was good, but my experience when it came to delivery and the care afterwards was exceptional.

Edited to add I was also a patient at the EPAU at the Royal Surrey the year before when I had an ectopic. The staff were very kind and helpful, and made the experience as not terrible as possible, although it's hard to describe that particular experience positively of course.

@LavenderSweetPea I didn't realise you are in this area too! I was on a lot of the same threads as my previous pregnancy was due in Feb (sadly had an MMC last July). So glad you got your baby and had a good experience at RSCH 😊

@moosey89 I remember you from our early thread last year. I'm sorry about what happened in July :( such a small world we are in the same area. I actually spent quite a lot of time at the RSCH EPU in the summer due to recurrent bleeding. I wonder if our paths ever crossed and we never knew it. I pray for your rainbow baby to arrive soon 🌈
