Is a private 16 week scan worth it?

Hello - first time mum here, 15 weeks tomorrow. DH and I originally wanted sex to be a surprise but over the last couple of weeks I’ve decided I actually really want to know - I also submitted my 12 week scan pic to Early Glimpse and they said they were 99.9% sure I was having a boy (!!) which has, bizarrely, made me even more curious. DH has come round but says we should just wait until 20 weeks (we ended up paying for private scans at 6 weeks and 9 weeks so he thinks we have paid enough already!) I understand, but the wait between 12 and 20 weeks seems so long - I’m not really showing at all yet and I can’t feel any movements, so also feel I would like the reassurance. DH makes the point that we should be able to hear the heartbeat at 17 week midwife appointment anyway and that might make me feel better. Any thoughts? Should I be patient and hold out, or is it worth it?

@hopingforapeainapod Yes, you can tell them you don't want to know right away- they should turn off the monitor (it was very obvious both with my girl and with my boy; I knew even before the sonographer said it) and they can write it on a card for you.

Just in case anyone finds this thread later and is interested, I had a 16 week scan for ultrasound direct for £60 and would definitely recommend it! It gave me peace of mind before I fly/go on holiday in 10 days and we got to see baby in 4d and of course find out the sex… we got them to write it down so we can find out in private and we opened it this weekend in a place that means a lot to us… and we are having a baby boy! 💙💙💙
