What to expect after a failed FET

Hi I posted yesterday after testing negative 6 days after a day 5 transfer and today on day 7 it’s still negative (not even a hint of a faint line) so I have prepared myself that I am officially out. I’m feeling very depressed and sad about it.

Official test day is not untill Thursday next week but I feel like stopping the Cyclogest now.

I want to know what happens after a failed FET? When do you start bleeding after you stop cyclogest? How much do you bleed, is it like a heavy period or..? I know everyone is different I just need to know what to expect and what’s gonna happen now.

Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

You really shouldn’t stop the meds until after your blood test beta and confirmation from the clinic. I know it’s shitty.

My failed FET was exactly like a normal period once I stopped the meds. No heavier than normal and we tried again a few weeks later.

It’s so hard, I wanted to do the same but wait until the clinic tells you to stop. My bleed after was lighter and shorter than normal. Then my next period was back to my normal and we started our 2nd FET.

Hi @LimeRaven and @Rtmhwales Tu Al you for your replies. Day 8 today and it’s still negative so I’m 100% out.

Today I’m felling the symptoms I get 1-2 days before my period starts (period due tomorrow) so I’m definitely not pregnant.

What is the reason not to stop cyclogest if the tests are negative up untill now? Surely there should be a faint positive by now.

I had natural cycle FETs so can’t comment on the medication but I do want to say please please wait until your clinic tells you to stop. I had my (3rd) FET in November and on day 8 I had a negative home test, day 9 I thought was so faint it had to be an evap line and didn’t bother doing a home test on day 10 because I knew I was out. My blood test was good and I’m now 28 weeks.

I don’t want that to come over all wrong but just to say you don’t know you’re out until the clinic says you are. Also early symptoms can be the same as you feel before your period.

Good luck xx

Hi @soscarlet Thank you for your reply and great to hear such a wonderful story
. This was a natural cycle FET I started progesterone (cyclogest) day of ovulation which was 5 days before the transfer and I’m not on any other hormone medication.

Will follow everyone’s advice and continue medication untill official test date.

I mainly kept going just as it was the clinic’s advice but also because I had read about a few people having experiences like @soscarlet and didn’t want to risk it.
