im 32 weeks and booked to have a GD test because my 32 week scan showed baby on 90th centile and weighing 4lb 11,
im worried as its 2 weeks away ill be 34 weeks when I do the test, im worried if I do have it its been left so late and what problems it'll cause

I dont know if I should change my diet now or what I wasn't told anything just told when the test was and what to do aka fast night before

im scared of what to eat I had a huge cry earlier as I just dont know if I do have it and what to even eat now

I was diagnosed late, wait for the test and see what happens. Some people are just ticking over the box and easy controlled by diet. Others have to go on insulin to control. It’s ok, it’s been recognised and it can be dealt with!

Yeah it’s pretty scary when you get diagnosed! But it’s manageable. Do you fall into one of the high risk groups? Essentially, it’s been highlighted now, so you’ll be monitored….so that’s good. Baby will be fine.

Just basically until they see you and give you proper advice cut back on sugary and carby things. I ate a lot of eggs and cheese when I had it.
There's a Facebook page (gestational diabetes U.K.) that can be helpful but I found it a bit like slimming world in that people made up really random recipes to try and fake something they were missing - quark cheesecakes etc.

If it’s any comfort I’ve had my latest scan at 32weeks 6 days and baby is on 90th centile and they say weighs 5lb 3 but all my blood sugars are fine so I don’t have gestational diabetes. Me and my husband are very tall though. Could just be a naturally big baby.

Hey OP, I got diagnosed at a similar gestation in my first pregnancy.

One easy switch to help is to go to whole grain carbs so brown bread, wholemeal pasta. This slows the absorption of carbs into your bloodstream (and helps keep you feeling fuller for longer).
It also helps to try and avoid double carbs (think burger in a bun plus chips) and try and balance your carb intake with protein, so look up some high protein food and see what you fancy.
