I know that it is probably normal to feel hungry and I have basically found myself so hungry that I am shaking after 2 hours of no food. Craving anything carb based and sugar based and today. I had three small cereal bowls as a snack and still felt so hungry.

I had a growth scan last week and found I am heading towards a 10ib baby. My last baby was 9ib 11oz. So now at the back of my mind I am thinking eating everything in sight is not good, but I am ravenous!

What can I do?

Have you been tested for gestational diabetes? I was craving them too and found out last week I have gestational diabetes ( it also causes larger babies if not detected) I've now had to cut out sugar and majorly reduce carbs 😩😅 not happy about that!

Hi OP,

I think your right to think about what you're eating and how it impact health for you and baby.
Can you switch to some lower energy density foods to fill up on?
So fruit and veg are the easiest way of doing this, try and make it more interesting by getting a variety.
Also switch to wholegrain/lower GI stuff so brown bread and pasta which keeps you fuller for longer.
Avoid drinks with artificial sweetners in as these can cause your body to release insulin which then makes you hungrier (squash and "zero" sugar drinks usually have lots of sweetners in).
Whenever you feel hungry, drink half a pint of water before you eat anything so you know its not just thirst.
