NIPT result high bHCG

Hi all,

I received my results a few weeks ago and on further reflection my bHCG seems really high.

I got a low risk result overall with 1 in 3600 chances of DS and 1 in 5000 for Edward’s and Patau’s.

However my bHCG was 5.54 which seems really high. NT was 0.78 and PAPP- A was 1.12. Has anyone else received results like this? Surely if there was anything wrong I would have been contacted right? I had my 16 week midwife appointment and they didn’t say anything so I’m hoping if there were any worries they would have done but I’m so anxious!

What makes you think it’s high? Is it outside normal range, or are you just assuming that 5 is high because the other two numbers were around 1?

@Jellycats4life I googled it (probably the worst thing I could possibly do!) and it said normal results for bHCG were around 1-2

I do think if there was anything concerning about those numbers it would have been flagged automatically, but it’s probably worth ringing your midwife just to put your mind at rest.
