Did you find taking medication preventatively stopped you from getting so sick you had to go to hospital?

I had HG with my first and I feel like I'm on a countdown to sickness 🙁 I'm 5 weeks

Yes! With #2 I got put on medication at the first sign of nausea and I wasn't nearly as sick. I feel like you get into a spiral of vomiting, low blood sugar and dehydration that just gets worse and worse.

I think it may have delayed it (very) slightly for me. With my first I was in full on HG vomiting at 5+5. This time round they put me on cyclizine at 4 weeks, I still vomited every day but only once or twice...but then the HG vomiting began at 7 weeks dead on. So I had an extra week of just 'normal morning sickness' as I call it rather than full blown HG. Then been in hospital 7 times since, now 17+6. So it didn't really do much for me other than maybe that slight delay.

Unfortunately, no. I started the meds basically as soon as I was pregnant but still ended up hospitalized and with a tube put in my arm to have IV therapy 3-4x a week once I was out. Still on the meds now too at 26 weeks.

God I'm so sorry, that's so hard

Did they try giving you multiple medications? I remember I had to switch up between 2 medications every couple of days to keep it at bay first time round. I then thought I was ok and stupidly didn't renew my prescription because I thought it had passed at 14weeks and ended up so poorly i had to go to hospital where they gave me a couple of anti sickness injections and lots of fluids and I came out feeling much better and topped up with pills.

It's tough. I said I'd never do it again! But love makes you do crazy things doesn't it

I hope it's the same for me. I've started taking mine today.

@RedRobyn2021 Good luck. I hope this time is better for you.

I never ended up in hospital either time because I could (mostly) keep water down. Although only two specific types of bottled water. Tap water meant immediate hurling.

Started meds before I was even 4 weeks, have had to go for IV fluids but only day case and managing a lot better than I was last time. I've been a lot more proactive about finds meds that work for me this time too as I'm more aware
