Do ultrasound direct detect ectopics?

I had a scan at ultrasound direct at 8+6.

I am 10 weeks now and have been getting shoulder pain the last few days. At the back of my mind is the worry that shoulder pain is linked to ectopic pregnancies but wouldn’t they have noticed if it was ectopic at the scan? I didn’t specifically ask, but we saw the heartbeat and baby was measuring correct for dates.

I would really worry if they didn't diagnose that at 8 weeks. Very worried. Call your GP if you are worried but I wouldn't be worried about an ectopic after the timing of your scam.

shoulder pain in ectopic is a result of fluid/blood aggravating a nerve / not the ectopic itself so it could be something else causing the pain.

If they’ve seen baby in uterus then it can’t be ectopic, however there is a condition (heterotopic) where you have a uterine and ectopic at the same time but this is so so so so rare. Also id add that at 10 weeks the ectopic would have probably ruptured by now and would certainly know about it pain wise so it’s even more unlikely.

I’d say it’s probably completely unrelated pain but speak to EPAU if you continue to be worried.
