Hi all going off my app and dates I thought I was 8+2 today.. since a bit of blood and spotting on and off since friday, this morning I went to EPAU and had a scan. At first they couldn’t find the pregnancy as said my bladder was too full! I was so scared. They finally found it and said baby is only measuring 6+6 at best, but there was a heartbeat.

I was so happy to see it flickering away and the consultant appointment after said she had no reason to be concerned and she said she didn’t know why I was spotting (still am as I type this)

I felt reassured but I still feel a little scared.

Is it okay to measure behind?
Is it at all likely I could lose the pregnancy after seeing a heartbeat?
Still bleeding and don’t know why?
Does a full bladder affect measurements?

I don’t want to be a pain and call them back as they told me they aren’t worried.. but I got my positive test 4.5 weeks ago and baby is only measuring at 6+6 “( at best) that worries me. They prescribed me progesterone pessaries as had a miscarriage in January.

sorry to be a pain, any advice please.. p.s scan pic attached (ive named it baby yoda.. can you see why 😃)

I so hope for the best xx

I measured behind and sadly lost the little love. I was heartbroken. The massive difference though between mine and yours is that my baby didn’t have a heartbeat, yours does that such a positive thing. So many measure behind and all is perfectly fine, it’s just though getting dates wrong, conception etc. It does sound like you have nothing to worry about 💓x

When was the first day of your last period op? Also, what HPT did you use?

Trying to work out if you got a very early positive HPT using an early detection test. This could account for you not being as far along as you first thought.

Hi! I hope this eases your minds a little. I have long/irregular cycles due to PCOS. I received positive pregnancy test stating 3+ weeks, I got a scan the following day and I was measuring 4w3d where I should have been a minimum of 5 weeks.

A scan a week later I was measuring 6w4d where I saw the heartbeat and then a scan 3 weeks later and I was measuring 8w5d.

I then had a scan 29/03 [5 days after being 8w5d] and I was measuring 10w5d and had my scan today measuring 12w2 days which measures in line with my 10w scan, so until I was around 10 weeks none of my scans added up at all. At this stage they are literally looking at mm so the slightest off angle could miss a few days.

With regards to the spotting, I had this too which is why I had so many scans, but it can be for many factors as explained to me so try not to worry. If your cervix is closed, then I'd assume it's due to cervix irritation which could be cause by anything.

Take it easy and try not to worry, though I know it's easier said than done. Hope this helps. Congratulations x

@WutheringMights I got my lmp on feb 12th, then got positive hpt at what i thought was 9dpo with an acutest, then the following day 1-2 on clearblue and 15dpo 2-3 x

Ok so on paper, you're 8+1 today. Assuming you have a textbook cycle where you ovulated on day 14, your scan measurements are a little behind where they should be at this stage.

You mention you got a positive test at 9dpo. Were you tracking ovulation by temping, using OPK's etc? If not, there's a good chance you ovulated later then you originally thought.

Can you request a blood test to measure HCG 2 days apart? That or another scan in 7-10 days will be the only way to confirm if the pregnancy is progressing as it should.
