C section on Friday and chicken pox at DS school

Hi all,

My c section is booked for Friday and chicken pox is rife in his class. Over the holidays there were three parties and two more of the children have gone down with it.. I have had it before so covered but he hasn't and I'm really concerned as to what to do.

Do I keep him off next week so he can at least meet his little sister before potentially getting sick? Do I get him the vaccine and find out how long it takes to work?

I'm worried sick so any advice would be greatly appreciated appreciated.

Thanks xx

The incubation period is 21 days. He'll be most contagious 2 days before the spots appear. I think you need to talk to your MW about the potential risks.

Check with you midwife I recon (possible easier said than done). I'd imagine you would be giving your baby a good deal of passive immunity through your mill though.
Good luckI on see why you are concerned.

Id definately look into getting the vaccine asap, i think it works very quickly and even one dose offers a high level of protection. There was an outbreak in my childs class last year and I quickly got him the vaccine--he was the only child in the class that didnt get chicken pox. Good luck with everything, hope it all goes really well xx
