Hi mumsnet! My first time ever posting! I just want to ask if anyone has had any experience of placenta previa. I had it on my first pregnancy (undetected and a long story!) but I never bled and made it to my due date- healthy baby girl thank God but an emergency scary section. On my second pregnancy I had 7 recurrent bleeds from 28 weeks until section at 37 weeks (healthy baby boy🙏🏻) and I was in hospital for nearly all of this time. After the section they sent my placenta to a lab and later told me that surprisingly to them I had had placenta accreta due to microscopic evidence of adhesion. I didn’t need blood transfusions after either section and the bleeds on my second were quite small but obviously scary. My question is I want another baby- Am I mad to risk another long hospital stay/ premature birth/ hysterectomy chance etc etc? Has anyone had placenta previa more than twice or experiences of the same or accreta? I’d really appreciate to hear about experiences and outcomes. Thanking Mumsnet users in advance 😊

If you haven't already it sounds like a debrief with an obstetrician who can give you an idea of how likely you are to have another abnormal placenta/ what delivery might involve if you did have another accreta/percreta might be a good idea (it might be quite a lot more than 'just' a long antenatal stay/premmie birth/hysterectomy).

I had placenta accreta with my 3rd child. Previous births were emergency section and an elective section. The accreta was picked up at my 20 week scan and I had an MRI scan around 26 week. I was monitored closely and luckily only had a small bleed at 34 week. My son was delivered at 36 week and I had a section and hysterectomy at the same time. I lost alot of blood and needed a transfusion and a week stay in hospital.
