Swollen itchy painful ladybits 5 weeks post c section

Hi all,
I had an emergency c section 5 weeks ago due to a heavy bleed during labour. Had a foul smelling discharge develop a few days later which GP prescribed antibiotics for.

Today I’ve had a throbbing bruise like pain whenever I sit down on my labia and clitoris as well being very itchy. Went to inspect before and my clitoris and labia have swelled right up and look shiny/ bright pink. Also a slight smell but not as horrendous as before.

Will go to GP if it hasn’t improved on Monday. Wondering if anyone had experienced this? Wondering if it might be a uti as haven’t been weeing as often.

Any advice appreciated!

Sorry, no personal experience of this but you definitely should seek help sooner than Monday. Do you have any walk in centres/out of hours GPs open nearby over the weekend?

Ali95x · 05/04/2024 21:09

@Tefiti3 thanks for the reply :) will have a look for walk in centres. Feels awful and so uncomfortable to sit!

Are you feeling unwell? Do you have a fever?

Sorry, it sounds awful 😖

@HappierTimesAhead no fever or feeling unwell just very uncomfortable 😣 think seeing how swollen and awful it looks makes me wince even more! X

I really feel for you, you have been through so much and now this 😔
I would definitely get seen by someone tomorrow 💐

Hi please contact 111.

I don’t mean to alarm you but I had an infection about 5 weeks after my c section and it went from 0 (a small red bit) to quite full blown in a couple of hours (I couldn’t move my neck up even a cm off my bed and the 111 lady called me an ambulance which came in 7 minutes).

im sure you will be fine but best to take precautions xx

Sounds like thrush op.
you can treat with otc canestan pessary

PhatNeckMendoza · 06/04/2024 00:21

I also think it is probably thrush from the antibiotics, maybe get advice from a pharmacist tomorrow or phone 111 and take advantage of your free prescriptions while you can!

Did you read what the OP said? 😂 I know people on here love a drama though, so what do you think it sounds like?

Hi OP. I've had various issues since having my baby which are recurring/haven't eased up almost a year on and have been getting progressively worse. Doctor now thinks that my estrogen levels are incredibly low - estrogen levels drop to pre-birth levels after giving birth but my levels seem to have gone further (exacerbated by breastfeeding) which can cause all kinds of issues and pain down below, including much of what you describe (although can't comment on swelling). At it's worst, I've been doubled over in so much pain I'm unable to hold my baby or wear pyjamas to bed. Until now, I've been getting treated for UTIs, thrush, bv etc over and over again but it could all have been hormonal and it's only just come to light when I mentioned the recent pains, itch and dryness. I've been prescribed a mild form of HRT and (touch wood) it seems to be making a difference.

In any case, definitely get checked asap. My C-section wound didn't heal for months and it really took its toll physically and mentally, as has my constant discomfort down below, so best speak to someone before any issues take hold and get the correct treatment.
