Anyone taken Erythromycin before when pregnant and had side effects like sickness and dirahohea? I've been prescribed for a UTI and I had the worst cramps and stomach in the night and the internet says it can be side effect but just wondered anyone else who may have taken this while pregnant? TIA x

Not while pregnant, but it gives me stomach cramps and nausea. I got the GP to give me something else.

Yes, I was given erythromycin at about 7.5 weeks pregnant for tonsillitis and it made me violently sick. Was awful. They were prescribed by a pharmacist through the Pharmacy First system and I was told I couldn't have any other antibiotic in pregnancy. I went back to the GP and she prescribed me penicillin instead and said I'd be misinformed by pharmacist! Had no side effects at all with penicillin and infection cleared up.

Yes I had them, had really bad nausea after I'd taken a few doses. Read the advice to take them with food though and started doing that, and I felt fine from then on. Definitely try taking them with food and see if your body adjusts after a couple of days, but if it isn't letting up see your GP again and ask for an alternative.
