Hi All. I had an urgent scan Sunday as I went into triage and they referred me for another scan today. My amniotic fluid level is high (1.5cm over the max it should be combined for all 4 ‘corners’ of the cervix). Max is 25cm. They think I may have GD so undergoing tests and have my GTT next week. My baby girl is measuring 63rd percentile though at present. Has anyone had GD and had a large baby? I’m absolutely panicking now I’m scared to eat anything

I had gestation diabetes with my first boy in 2022, he was measuring somewhere around 60-70 percentile. GD was controlled with metformin as most foods sent my sugars high 🙄 was booked in for induction at 39 weeks but baby came spontaneously at 37 weeks 2 days and weighed 7lbs 1oz 😊

Thanks for replying. Im so scared. My blood sugar levels have always been ok (checked often as my Dad is diabetic) and I’ve just done one tonight after weetabix and milk and it’s 10.3!!! Im so worried but reading online it seems GD isn’t uncommon. I just need to get my head around it all. Glad baby was ok

Weetabix is one of the worst cereals you can have if you have GD.

I have it, 38 +3 now with 2nd child. Didn't have it first time round. He is measuring small actually!

Also scans have a 15% - 20% leeway for being wrong so try not to panic to much x

Omg no way! There’s me thinking it’s healthy 🤦🏻‍♀️ I actually wasn’t hungry tonight so forced that down. I’m waiting to see the diabetic nurse to discuss food options as I’m so lost and new to this
Thanks for replying, hope the remainder of your pregnancy goes well!

Just to say you may not have GD, I was tested last week for a second time as my amniotic fluid was a bit high and it came back normal today. My consultant did say fluid can fluctuate and didn’t seem too concerned.
