Morning Sickness

Hey everyone,

Expecting our rainbow baby in November, currently just over 6 weeks and I am struggling so much with sickness at the moment. I've tried everything, anti sickness wristbands, ginger biscuits, eating little and often but I literally can't even keep drinks down.

Does anyone have anything that really helped them along the way? Seeing the midwife on Monday so hoping maybe she can give me something to help?

Thanks for reading, any advise appreciated.

Smile

Hi @BCLL really feel for you with this! I'm 9+5 with DC2 and the only thing that has helped me truly is medication from the GP. With DS pregnancy I just somehow got through and swore I wouldn't do that again as its so awful. The usual recommendations of ginger and plain toast made no difference at all. it's the nausea I have found the most debilitating. I've been prescribed cyclizine which has worked well for me to take the edge off. They took over a week to get used to, but now I take 2 a day and it means I can function. With meds the earlier you can speak to the GP the better as it has the greatest impact the earlier you start. My midwife told me she wasn't able to prescribe anything so u had to go through GP, but may be different in your area. Good luck with it, it's so horrible. And huge congratulations on your pregnancy!

Just reread your post OP, as you can't keep drinks down I think you should probs try to speak to GP urgently (today if you can) as you can be a risk from dehydration and other things so your need for meds could be quite high. I wasn't this bad with mine. My SIL had HG and it started this way. This website was a good source of advice and support https://pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk/
Take care of yourself! x

Thank you! I've managed to keep some food down this morning and I'm trying to sip water little and often. I have to wait for my GP to reopen at 2pm then I will contact them and hopefully they can prescribe something for me. I am so so grateful for this pregnancy and I cannot wait to meet our little one however I am a bit worried after a previous loss and I have not felt this poorly in a long time!

@Hopingrae I managed to get hold of the doctors and they prescribed me the same tablets as you're on, also as you said they said to get back in contact if I can't keep liquids down. Fingers crossed the pills work and I start to feel better. Also congratulations on your pregnancy Smile

With my youngest water was hard to drink throughout. I had lots of water rich foods like melon.
