Mild cramps at 8-9 weeks

Hi everyone,

I'm 8+5 weeks today in my first pregnancy. I had quite a lot of cramping early on (around 4-6 weeks) and even went to EPU to rule out ectopic as I was getting a lot of one sided cramping and shooting pains. At 6+3 we had a scan and saw heartbeat which was great and the cramps died down a lot.

However since Saturday I've had a noticeable return of cramping every day and particularly in the evenings/night. The cramps themselves are like very mild period pains and I don't need to take painkillers. However they are giving me a lot of anxiety! From what I've seen online, cramping is very common early on in the first trimester but I'm not sure about this stage.

I'd love some reassurance from anyone who had lots of (daily) mild cramps between 8-9 weeks and beyond and everything was OK?

Thank you!

@piechipsgravy I’ve has quite a lot of mild cramps over the last two weeks (I’m 11 weeks tomorrow) - I’ve heard that baby has a big old growth spurt between 8-12 weeks so I assume it’s just the uterus stretching and changing shape! Mine are very similar - quite like period pains and don’t need painkillers - and I think as long as no blood hopefully all good!

Thanks @hopingforapeainapod that's so reassuring to hear! I've had no blood or spotting so 🤞🏻

I've had this with all 3 of my kids. Just your hormones and body adjusting

Yes I think it's normal,.just uterus stretching and preparing to get bigger!

@Ellsx6 I'm now 26+5 pregnant and all is going well so far (touch wood!). Have had some periods of cramps/back ache on and off throughout as things have stretched and grown.
