Anyone never have an “accident” when not using contraception but still conceive easily?

Just starting TTC, have had a couple to whoops moments where we’ve had unprotected sex during my fertile window and never become pregnant. So I’m convinced this might mean it’s going to be hard for me to get pregnant.

Has anyone had this but actually it’s been fine?

I've always been shocking for remembering to take my pill etc, I absolutely expected to have trouble conceiving since I hadn't had any accidents prior when I definitely 'deserved' a few. When I did decide I wanted a baby it happened on cycle 2 first and second time around, third time round took about 5 cycles but that was following a MC so I think it was due to that.

Even if you are trying to conceive and having sex at the right time, doing all the right things there’s only a 25% chance of conceiving each month. Most healthy couples will conceive within 12 months of trying so just because you didn’t catch accidentally doesn’t mean anything at all

I've been lucky both ways. Lucky not to have an oops, lucky to get pregnant pretty much immediately when I wanted.

Whew.

Recommend Clear Blue digital ovulation tests. I fell pregnant with both of my babies the first month I used these!

Yes, me. I have 3 DC

Never used any contraception 25 years married, just withdrawal. No accidents. Just that, no other calculations or monthly timings.

Conceived all 3 of mine, 1-3 months of ttc.

Went on the pill in my mid-teens (can’t remember exactly when but maybe 15). Never had a pregnancy scare. Came off the pill age 28 to TTC and fell pregnant on the second month. Went back on the pill after having that baby (different pill due to breastfeeding) Again, no scares. Came off pill again age 35 to TTC again and again fell pregnant the second month off the pill (a different father this time!). Back on the pill, youngest DC is now 3 and haven’t had any pregnancy scares.

We thought the same! I came off my pill 2 years ago and although we tried to avoid sex during ovulation window there were plenty of times we completely forgot about it. Never got pregnant those times and when we decided to start TTC after our wedding I just assumed we would have difficulty or it would take a while. We're now almost 8 weeks pregnant, first month of trying! Best of luck to you 🥰👶🍼

I used to take my pill whenever i remembered during the day, i was never taking it at the same time every day, never got pregnant. Came off it and managed to get pregnant within 2 weeks of being off the pill twice this happened, came off the pill completely and had my second miscarriage and tried again without going back on the pill and it took me 6 months to get pregnant.

I hate being on the pill and DH and I used the withdrawal method for years with no pregnancies. Then when we started TTC I got pregnant quickly - within 3 months all three times.

I really wouldn’t go into it worrying. It’s common to take a year of actually trying. Recommend ovulation tests so you have an idea of the best time but don’t get too obsessive with it

Kind of going through the same at the minute. Currently trying to conceive baby #2 and haven’t been on any contraception since I had my first baby in December 2021.

Ive had a regular cycle since February 2022 and haven’t fallen pregnant. There has been a fair few months where I could’ve become pregnant but didn’t. We have now been actively trying and tracking for the past 3 months and I’m now on cycle 4 ttc #2.

I do think in our case we have slight male factor infertility as my first took 7 months to conceive, however my partner had to make lots of lifestyle changes including vitamins, cutting down alcohol and cutting out hot baths before we got the positive test. It’s been 2 months since he’s made changes this time around so fingers crossed something happens for us soon. I would advise tracking your ovulation with LH strips and BBT to confirm you’ve ovulated, take a prenatal and get your partner on a fertility vitamin too.

Like others have said, there’s only a 25% chance each month even if everything is lined up perfectly. I know it’s so hard to think there’s something wrong, especially when people around you tell you it’s happened so fast for them! Good luck! xx
