I'm so ready now

I am 39 weeks and have enjoyed being pregnant (other than the first trimester which was tough).
Today, I very suddenly reached the "I'm DONE now" stage. I sat down and just felt ready. I am so uncomfortable 😫

My first pregnancy was a week after due date.

Please tell me:

  • a sudden sense of readiness is an early sign of labour
  • second babies come earlier

Lie if you need to 😉😅

I could sit and lie to you but I feel like you right now 🤣. My son came at 38 weeks, I've been DONE since about 37 weeks and expected second baby to come sooner. I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow and I don't think she's coming anytime soon 🙃. So so grateful after a 14 week loss last year but my God I just want her out now. Give me the pain of labour, the sleepless newborn nights. I am so ready to not be pregnant 😅

Tryingtoconceivenumber2 · 31/03/2024 23:14

My first was born at 40+2 but second was 39+2 and I was also do ready not to be pregnant. Was so much more uncomfortable second time around at the end. Good luck OP x

LuckyMum1989 · 01/04/2024 01:12

Thanks both x

I think I was hoping that this weird "I'm ready now" moment I had meant something... but I kind of knew it was just me reading too much into it!

Good luck @Ttcmumma 💐

@Ttcmumma - any news?
If you've had your little one, it will give me hope.
If not... well, misery loves company!!

😫😫come on baby!!!!

I was earlier with my second. I swear it was due to the raspberry leaf extract I took in the last month though! Amazing stuff.

Cindy1802 · 04/04/2024 03:18

My first was a few days early so I was sure my second would be too. However he came about 10 days late 🙈 I was soooo frustrated, those 10 days were hell! He's now almost 4 months old and doesn't sleep 😅 good luck!!

LuckyMum1989 · 04/04/2024 03:23

NOOOOOO!!!! Lies!!
😅😫😅

Nope! 39+3 and she is chilling 🤦🏼‍♀️. Scan a couple days ago estimated her at 7lb10 now. She is clearly done cooking and too lazy to get out 😅

LuckyMum1989 · 04/04/2024 08:16

39+4 here so we're nearly there!
It comes to something when labour is the more appealing option 😅
I'm currently working on how to tap out "follow the light" in morse code. Worried about ruining a perfectly good torch though 😅😅

My sister is booked for a c section tomorrow, I'm due before her but she has complications. I'm admittedly little jealous of her right now 😅.
We surely can't go too much longer!!

LuckyMum1989 · 04/04/2024 09:23

Oh gosh - hope all goes well for her 🙏🏻
How lovely to have cousins born so close!

I'm 38 +4 and done 😭

My first was born at 38 +1 spontaneously with no issues so it's not true for me that 2nd's come early!

LuckyMum1989 · 04/04/2024 17:48

@mrsed1987 You have my sympathy!...although you're a week behind me so if you go first...tell me kindly 😅😅

Reminds me of that episode in Friends where Rachel is having her baby...

🤣

I've booked in for a sweep on Monday at 39 +1. I've got gestational diabetes this time round and even though it's diet controlled they want to get me going sooner rather than later!

whathannahsaid · 04/04/2024 18:01

Is it the baby that determines when they are born or the mother's body?

I think it's the mother that releases a hormone that gets things started because some babies come too early and can't survive so it makes sense that would be it but it's only a very uneducated guess.

Ah I have a sweep on Monday as well!

Hope the GD hasn't caused you too much bother and that all goes well 💐 makes a lot of sense to encourage labour early. Have you picked your first "allowed snack" out?!

Ooooh that is an interesting question!!!

I guess I have always talked along the lines of "babies come when they're ready - they haven't got a calendar" kind of jokey thinking... but that was more just a "it's not on my timescale" kind of thinking. So I think subconsciously I thought it was the baby. But @vanillaclouds response has me thinking!

It's not been too bad actually! My numbers have been quite low the last week or so, so I've been able to tolerate some Easter egg!

I'm looking forward to just eating normally and not having to prick my finger 4 times a day!

Oooo good luck. I'm a bit apprehensive as not had one before and hear mixed messages. Who knows maybe these babies will come of their own according over the weekend! Lol x

1st baby 41+3
2nd baby 40+4

allgoodthings84 · 10/04/2024 21:51

My first was 8 days late and I never had that I’m done feeling. After the first trimester (which was horrendous) I felt great right up until my waters broke day before I went into labour and even then I felt fine until contractions started. My second was 5 days early and I felt very much done. I had a planned c section booked but went into natural labour while waiting in hospital for my turn on c section day 😂

Ttcmumma · 11/04/2024 01:14

40+3 today and had my baby girl at 21:09 last night! At 40+2. I had a sweep the day before around 3pm, was half a cm dilated 3/5 engaged. Had mild cramps in the night, started losing my plug in the morning. Waters broke at lunchtime. Was still only 4cm at 19:30pm but she was born at 21:09pm!

LuckyMum1989 · 11/04/2024 01:41

Huge congratulations @ttcmumma!

😊🥳❤️🙏🏻

Incredible news! I am still feeling very uncomfortable but just hearing this beautiful news makes my middle of the night easier to bear!

Will say a prayer for you and your newborn daughter before I go back to sleep. Well done - name change coming your way, I guess 😉 but i will remember you @ttcmumma.
