Pregnancy

Threatened Miscarriage

Hi, I'm looking for some reassurance with any similar experiences of a threatened miscarriage. I'm 6 weeks +5 days pregnant with my second pregnancy (I have a 4 year old daughter) and it's been an emotional rollercoaster. I started to have brown discharge with mild pelvic cramping 4 days ago. EPU advised me to go to A&E and after an examination (cervix closed) they booked a scan the next day to see how baby was doing. My bleeding progressed to a light period, but during the scan there was a sac with a fluttering heartbeat. I was booked in for another scan in 2 weeks time as fluid in my womb was detected, but later that afternoon I had to be rushed back to A&E due to sudden very heavy bleeding and clots. Thankfully cervix was still closed and the Dr said it was old blood, but now on progesterone pesseries twice daily for at least 6 weeks and under strict orders to rest. I've had 2 full days on these and although the bleeding is slowing down to a light - medium flow, I'm now passing clots (small and large) and have now been booked in for another scan tomorrow to see if baby is still okay. Has anyone experienced this and everything been okay in the end, or experienced similar with progesterone to stop bleeding in pregnancy? (Sorry for the long message)

I don't have experience of this but didn't want to read and run. Hope you're OK and have someone to talk to.

Hi, yes I bled from week 7/8 to around 18 weeks. I had a subchronic haematoma. I experienced 3 very heavy bleeds soaking my trousers, huge clots etc and bled constantly in between, would go from red to brown etc. I’m 31 weeks now.

I hope the bleeding calms down soon, it’s so worrying when you’re pregnant!

Oh bless you, that must have been so difficult for you. I feel emotionally and physically exhausted after 4 days of this so far. That's made me feel more hopeful though, as I've just been mentally preparing myself for the worst. So glad it stopped for you in the end and baby is doing well. Hopefully tomorrow's scan will be reassuring.

I had a threatened miscarriage at about 6 weeks. Bled loads, was in agony and had to stay in hospital for a few days.
He is now 10 years old!
Had this again with my 2nd, who was a twin. Only 1 twin survived.
Hope it all works out for you xx
