Hey so I went for a growth scan and they said my babies head is measuring small. All organs seem to be normal but head is 2% percentile. I've been referred to another hospital for another consultant to see. I had blood tests also. Has anyone had this? I'm so worried just looking for similar cases.

Hi,
My daughter’s head at 20 week scan was under the chart. Got referred to fetal medicine. Had a full anatomy scan told looked normal just that she was very small as femurs and abdo circumference small than average but just on the chart. Had bloods for CMV.

Got offered amniocentesis and fetal MRI but went for further ultrasound at 4 weeks where they said she and her head were growing As expected.

Then discharged back to local hospital who did fortnightly ultrasounds. At 38 weeks her heartbeat was a bit fast so induced and ultimately an emergency section. She was absolutely fine. Born 5lbs with a small head. First breast feed while I was still on table.

She’s 18 months now. Absolutely nuts but v healthy, very happy and nearly in 1 year clothes.

I remember very clearly being utterly terrified so a huge hug to you.

Keep going.

I'm glad your little girl is healthy 😁

I had a scan today going to another hospital tomorrow and they may offer me those as well but they just seem so scary. Did you end up having an MRI?

Thanks

The consultant was very confident ‘she was just small’ so I didn’t have anymore tests because I had a what will be will be external mantra. Inside I was more of a disaster but oddly I don’t think more tests would have alleviated my anxiety. Nothing would until she was here.

I've had 2 small babies, 5th centile and 8th for weight. Both perfectly healthy and home the same day. Just over 6lbs.

DD2 at 39 week scan was given a head measure of 3rd centile but the midwife said herself it is so hard to get an accurate head measurement later on. They didn't seem concerned and took no further action at that point. I had her the next day (went in to labour naturally) x

My son was 8th centile for head circumference when born, at 8lb 9! He was a hungry boy and quickly became 95th centile for weight. He just had a neat little head 😂 Wonderfully happy, healthy and chatty 2 year old now. Good that you’re getting tests done but I’m sure all is well.
