Late on period but negative tests

Hi all,
I have a very very regular cycle always 28-30 days and the latest I’ve ever been on my period is cycle day 33. I use natural cycles and it detected my ovulation over two weeks ago. I haven’t come on my period and it’s cycle day 35. I’ve taken a test this morning clear blue rapid response and it was negative. I’m driving myself insane because I know this is not normal for me and I feel instinctively the test is incorrect. Has anyone else experienced this/ can advise me? I’m a midwife but it’s driving me just as crazy🤣

Yes, this happened to me. I waited a week and then got a positive test

Luciejones123 · 25/03/2024 08:13

What test did you use if you don’t mind me asking? I’m in a rabbit hole of researching the tests now and can’t seem to get a first response anywhere!

Are you TTC and have you recently started taking prenatal vitamins? For me this lengthened my cycle by around 3-5 days, I was so confused. I fell pregnant the following cycle but ovulated 3 days later than I previously did xx

And do you know the sensitivity of the clear blue test you used? If it wasn't, try to pick up a 6 days early test with 10miu sensitivity xx

Luciejones123 · 25/03/2024 08:19

Not actively trying so I haven’t started any medications/vitamins. I just did the rapid response test from the day of your missed period. I’ve bought some tescos own whilst trying to hunt a first response down.

Try the pink dye tests as clear blue are known to be bad and they dont give clear responses.

Amazon have first response early tests, if you're in England x

Am I seeing things or is this a faint positive?

I see it :) could you have ovulated later than you thought?

Starlight11111 · 28/03/2024 19:15

This is absolutely a positive! Did it come up in the timeframe? Tentative congratulations!

Luciejones123 · 28/03/2024 21:51

Yes within the time frame but other brands have been negative! Ordered more first responses to be sure! I’m worried as my period is 8 days late and this is the first positive I have had :(

@Luciejones123 sorry you're in limbo. FRER are definitely the most sensitive tests, I think they're 7miu so potentially able to pick up what other tests can't. It could be you ovulated late/twice or could sadly be a chemical but I don't think it's an evap within the timeframe and it has colour. Test again in 48h (excruciating I know) and do keep us posted ❤️

Luciejones123 · 29/03/2024 07:33

I was very inpatient and tested this morning, but there’s no confusion with this. Absolutely positive😭 Hope everything is ok though, got some first response coming today and hopefully the line gets darker
