I think I might be pregnant. I have only stopped the pill 3 days ago but have been having pregnancy symptoms and still haven’t got my period. I have been having mild cramping (which is unusual for me as I get real bad cramps normally with periods), nausea, bloating, dizziness and needing to pee a lot. Am I pregnant or am I just over thinking it. Did a pregnancy test and it was negative (I know I was probably a bit early) also since stopping the pill I have had unprotected sec twice with my partner.

Have you come off the pill completely? It’s possible these are period symptoms and your period is being irregular just now.
Did you have unprotected sex in the last month, since your last period?
If your tests are negative then I’d say you’re not currently pregnant. If you’ve only just had unprotected sex within the last couple of days then it unlikely you’d experience any pregnancy symptoms within 3 days.

Yeah I have come off the pill completely. Yeah it’s just these are the normal period symptoms I usually get but then again haven’t had one since September last year cos of the pill I was on. I was on northesitrone 5mg (doctor said I should get my period within 4 days) so that is one of the reasons I am kinda confused

Also I have had unprotected sex multiple times in the last month but my tests have always came back negative

If he said within 4 days then I’d wait a few more days. You’ve not had a period for quite some time so your body is just adjusting to not having the pill. You may find with your first withdrawal bleed that it’s a little different from a normal period. You’re probably experiencing more period symptoms since it’s your first period again and that’s why you’re feeling slightly different.

If you’ve still not had your period by Wednesday then I’d take another test then. If negative then no harm in chatting to your gp about coming off of the pill. If your had unprotected sex over 2 weeks ago then I’d probably expect the pregnancy tests to be positive now.

You might want to ask mumsnet to delete that other duplicate thread you raised.

OP there is no “three days pregnant”. What you’re feeling is just normal adjustments your body is making with the withdrawal of hormonal contraception as it gets back to normal.

Didn’t you post this same thread on Saturday ?

You’ve posted other threads here. Sorry but you can’t be pregnant after 3 days. I’m being kind and saying you need to read up on ovulation and how pregnancy happens. Your symptoms are very likely because of stopping the pill.

PurBal · 25/03/2024 07:19

I think, kindly, this is extremely unlikely because of how the pill works. It stops you ovulating and the bleed you experience each month is a withdrawal from the hormones not a true period. You need to ovulate. And even if you ovulated the day after you stopped the pill (unlikely because of the hormones) you wouldn’t be “late” 3 days later because the luteal phase lasts about 14 days. If your luteal phase was as short as 3 days it would affect your fertility because the womb lining wouldn’t be thick enough to support a fertilised egg and wouldn’t implant.

TTPD · 25/03/2024 07:30

No - even if you ovulated immediately and the egg was fertilised, it wouldn't have implanted yet. HCG isn't produced until after implantation.
