Hi there I had my coil removed the 21st March and by Sunday 24th March I’ve had 3 positive results, is this possible or likely to be ectopic?

How strange. You'll have to get a scan around 6 weeks to find out

excitedmama2be · 24/03/2024 16:08

It is rare to fall pregnant on coil unless it’s dislodged or expired

digitals are from conception not LMP so if you did somehow managed to fall pregnant you are approx 4 weeks

Chloe2711 · 24/03/2024 16:24

Thank you, just all a bit overwhelming/confusing as I’m sure you can understand just concerned as the coil was only removed 4 days ago

Why did you do a test?

Chloe2711 · 24/03/2024 16:26

Only took a test due to cramps, light bleeding and tender breasts

I came off the coil on the last day of my period and ovulated on the expected day for that cycle which I ended up falling pregnant on, so was pregnant within 2 weeks of coming off the coil. So the coil doesn't stop you ovulating, and people can get pregnant on the coil.

Sorry edited this as hadn't realised you literally only just tested so must have conceived a few weeks ago while you were on the coil.

Were you having regular periods on the coil and can you book a scan for when you'll be 6 weeks?

Sa11yCinnamon · 25/03/2024 12:01

I fell pregnant with a coil in and know a few other people who have, so you may have been pregnant before it was removed? None of those were ectopic.

Chloe2711 · 25/03/2024 13:28

Hi there I’ve been on some form of birth control for several years meaning I’ve not had a period for many years, I also don’t know how far gone I am, just in utter shock if I’m honest

Can you ring your local EPU and ask for a reassurance/dating scan?

Chloe2711 · 25/03/2024 14:46

Just been to A&e as recommended by my GP aside from the receptionist telling me I must be joking it’s impossible, I’m going back tomorrow to the EPU x

Sa11yCinnamon · 25/03/2024 14:54

It's definitely not impossible. Hope you get some answers tomorrow! x

Flopsy145 · 25/03/2024 15:12

Definitely can happen, I've seen plenty of threads on here where it happened to women plenty of times!
Just a thought actually, did they make you do a pregnancy test before having it out? I know I had to do one to have it in but can't remember with it coming out.
Hope you get some answers soon

SnookyPook · 25/03/2024 15:18

Oh what a shock for you! Hope you get some answers tomorrow. Hope everything is ok x

Chloe2711 · 25/03/2024 21:43

Thank you all, not sure what to expect from the EPU tomorrow whether I’ll have a scan or not as of yet

It happened to our local GP. She unexpectedly got pregnant even though she had been using the coil for birth control.
