Orgasm early pregnancy

Hi mums, I'm 8 weeks along and I finally caved in to the crazy hormones (after refraining for what felt like ages) and ended up having an orgasm. The orgasm was quite strong and I felt a strong contraction ripple through my uterus. After this I had mild cramping for about 3 hours which subsided.
I've had a MMC before so I'm generally anxious about this pregnancy- though I did have a reassurance scan a few days back. Now I know google says its OK as long as doctor doesn't say otherwise. But please let me know if you have had strong orgasms regularly in the first trimester and if all ended well! I feel so disappointed in myself :(

Oh bless you OP please don’t stress!! It’s absolutely fine unless you’ve been specifically told not to! I’m now a few weeks away from my due date, my husband and I have been having sex regularly throughout and my baby is very much healthy and kicking me straight in the ribs as we speak! X

@Mrsttcno1 aw thank you that is very reassuring!! Good luck for your final stretch! Can I ask if you had strong orgasms/uterine contractions in your first trimester too? And would you feel mild cramping sometimes after? X

Definitely nothing to worry about.

In fact a lot of pregnant women end up having orgasms in their sleep with the amount of hormones floating around! It might just feel strange as it's the first time, hopefully it will feel less uncomfortable next time.

Human race would definitely have died out by now if orgasms caused miscarriage in healthy pregnancies!
Unless there's some underlying issue, you'll be fine. Braxton Hicks actually start around six weeks but you just can't feel them yet. They ARE uterine contractions.

I was having orgasms in my sleep around your time of gestation and every time I had cramps following, they were so strong they would wake me up. I mentioned this on my thread and I was told it’s normal. It hurt like hell though, more than regular cramps.

Mrsttcno1 · 21/03/2024 16:44

Thank you @lilspark ! Yes, honestly don’t worry, orgasms do by definition cause the muscles in your uterus to contract. And some cramping can also be totally normal after sex during pregnancy as well! Try not to worry about it and enjoy while you can! X

I had a lot of this is my first pregnancy and no miscarriage. At one point I had to stop though because the cramps were too painful.

Thank you so much ladies! Very reassuring :)

Hey Lilspark how is your pregnancy going? I’m in the exact same position as you! I had an orgasm about a week ago now and have regretted it ever since as I have been worrying nonstop! I’m 12 weeks now and have a scan booked for tomorrow so I am hoping and praying everything will be well. I hope your pregnancy is going well xx

lilspark · 27/05/2024 16:40

@Homegirl1619 don't stress! I'm 18 weeks now and thankfully everything is going ok :) all the best for your scan tomorrow xx

Thank you so much @lilspark ☺️ all was well at my scan too thank God! I was so relieved I literally thought that something must have been seriously wrong it was awful. Will definitely be more careful now although it’s hard because everything is so bloody sensitive! 😂😩
although I know all is and was well it still makes me scared to go ahead and have another one because I fear it will send me into panic mode again! 🙈 xx
