Vomited during glucose test - advice

I had my glucose test today and no shocks I couldn’t hold it down. I have had a very sick pregnancy so it didn’t surprise me. I am booked to go back next week and I am terrified as I know I won’t be able to hold it down. I tried asking what happens if I couldn’t hold it down again and the midwife was very vague almost to say wait until we try again. I really don’t want GD and only getting the test as a family member has diabetes ( although it’s through lifestyle ) very stressed. Advice needed on any tips to help keep drink down. How likely is it I have GD if I can’t hold the drink down?

@Redheadx Hi. Maybe you can ask the midwife if you can do the fasting blood test as thats what i did 2 years ago, so from 12am the night before till up to my appointment which was 9am, i wasn’t allowed to eat anything but could sip on water till i had my bloods taken & that was it

They can use a different method I think. My friend couldn't tolerate the drink so had to prick her fingers for a week and note the results. Maybe you can ask if they would be able to do that?

I'm a midwife and where I work we would just use a fasting glucose and a HbA1c level. I'd just ask to do that if I were you.

Don't feel bad I was told to drink before an ultrasound so that my bladder was full. I threw up just before the exam everything went down their sink

Oh thank you! I have my midwife before my next appointment definitely will do that. Fingers crossed x
