Hey guys

We are considering doing a babymoon around 31/32 weeks pregnancy.

Has anyone done this or got any advice as it's our first pregnancy.

Thanks!

I would consider going a bit earlier if that's an option for you.

I went to Gran Canaria at 20-21 weeks and had plenty of energy, was able to walk pretty far, swim etc. Now that I'm 30 weeks I am bigger & more uncomfortable and generally more tired... I don't think I would have enjoyed the holiday quite as much now as I did ten weeks ago!

No need for a fit to fly note if applicable to you if you go a bit earlier.

You also start to have more frequent midwife appointments in the 3rd trimester that you have to dodge.

That said: I am going away in the UK for business at 34 weeks, fortunately my partner can come with me and work remotely for the four days to keep me company. But I am honestly not expecting to do much social or sightseeing stuff on the evenings!

But it all comes down to you really. You might be a lucky lady who still feels energetic at 30 weeks; or you might have a lovely break reading in a cosy cottage/lounging by the pool

I'd try and go a bit earlier if you can. We're having a holiday when I'll be 21-22 weeks. Check your travel insurance would cover pregnancy related medical treatment or needing to cancel if you are advised not to travel. We're sticking to EU country as I have more confidence in the health care.

I would definitely agree with other posters and say go earlier if you can, around 20-25 weeks I would say. We have been away twice through this pregnancy, at 18 weeks and again at 24 weeks, they were of course different trips to normal but I really enjoyed them still however by 24 weeks I was really quite uncomfortable on the flight! I’m 36 weeks now and wouldn’t have enjoyed travel/a holiday at 31/32 weeks as by then the tiredness & discomfort had hit x

Thank you - we already have it booked. I'm just going to hope it will be fine as we've spent a lot and can't move it!

Will need to get a fit to fly note

I went for a city break at 25 weeks and I got very tired and my feet swelled up a lot from all the walking. I’m 31 weeks now and wouldn’t go away unless I had to. I’m so uncomfortable I’m not sure I’d feel like I was making the most of a trip!

It's the Maldives so we wouldn't be doing much at all so that's a saving grace

OP, please consider cancelling. There is Zika risk in the Maldives. I wouldn’t risk going anywhere with a Zika risk. It’s rare but could be devastating for your baby. There’s also very limited healthcare on the islands, it could take a long time to get to a fully equipped hospital if you went into premature labour.

Definitely cancel OP, the Zika risk is not something to take chances with.
