Acid reflux misery

13+2, have had acid reflux / heartburn very early on but I’m just miserable with it now. It’s not even that bad (have read some people on here having far worse symptoms of bringing it up etc) but it’s just relentless.
I constantly need to burp, feel like I have something stuck in my throat all the time and gavicson makes me gag. Rennies work for a short period of time but I’m just miserable.
I had omeprazole with my first and am tempted to see if I can go back on it but feels a bit early to start taking that.
Bonkers that something the size of a peach can cause such havoc with your body!

Take the omeprazole

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/03/2024 23:05

It’s not too early! Please don’t suffer unnecessarily. Get the omeprazole asap. I got it last year via econsult at my GP, didn’t have to see or even speak to anyone, prescription sent straight to the on-site pharmacy and I was better by the end of the following day.

It's the progesterone.

Take the meds! Or a load of Gaviscon.

Take the omeprazole

This, took it all the way through pregnancies, it's fine. Gaviscon doesn't touch the sides.

Also sleep on your left side, it helps because of how your stomach drains.

Omeprazole!! X

Upinthenightagain · 17/03/2024 23:16

I suffered on with it until was well over 30 weeks then got the omeprazole. I don’t know why I made myself suffer for so long. It was awful

LizzeyBenett · 18/03/2024 06:52

I take gaviscon extra tablets all day long they work for me , omeprazole is safe I took it before pregnancy but gaviscon are doing the trick so I just stick with them .

Omephrozole. Honestly op, so worth it. It takes around a month to properly work and feel the effects but I couldn’t have survived without it. I’m 37 weeks now and still take it daily. Wish you all the best for your pregnancy and I hope you get some relief soon!

Newgolddream70 · 18/03/2024 07:15

Omeprazole!!

OP get some today 😊

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 18/03/2024 09:32

I'm 13+2 and been on omeprazole since about 7 weeks (for nausea though) so will definitely be fine to take! Don't suffer for no reason

NatW2021 · 18/03/2024 09:59

@TupperCare I feel your pain, I'm 12 weeks and had it since week 8, other than that I'm feeling pretty good and I'm getting really fed up even omeprazole isn't working, it's making me miserable too! Constantly burping/food repeating on me, bloated feeling/something stuck in my chest and my stomach feels empty even after eating.

TupperCare · 19/03/2024 21:32

Thank you all! Will be calling the docs tomorrow to get some omeprazole and can hopefully cheer up a bit 🤣
