If you don't actually know what the pain is I would call. Get their opinion and follow their advice about who to see.

def call, doesn’t mean you have to go in! They can try and find out what might causing the pain. Better to discuss with midwife in case it’s something more than PGP if it’s affecting you this much

111 then if you’re not sure? To speak to an out of hours GP

Starlightstarbright3 · 17/03/2024 03:38

They triage you . So ring . They will decide the course of action from there.

PoppingTomorrow · 17/03/2024 03:39

Yes definitely please call maternity urgent triage. Don't piss around with 111.

You don't know if it's an emergency because you don't know the cause of the pain. You've taken all sensible steps to relieve it but it's no better so now you're seeking medical help. They will ask some questions and determine if you need to be calling out of hours GP or advise what to do next. Honestly they won't tell you off if it's not an emergency.

Exactly this.

My maternity notes list intense pain like this as one of the reasons you should call right away. If no other numbers are available then phone the emergency one but don't wait until Monday. Hopefully it is 'just' PGP but the fairly sudden onset of this extreme pain you're experiencing should be properly evaluated.

Aussieland · 17/03/2024 05:41

Its "emergency" as in "not just calling for a theoretical chat about your options for breast or bottle feeding at 3am". They will tell you if they don't need to see you

Sunshineclouds11 · 17/03/2024 05:56

Ring and they advise who to call if not them but I'm sure they'd help

Chasingbaby2 · 17/03/2024 07:39

I had this and it was pelvic pain plus a tummy bug. I went in for monitoring after calling triage and I'm 100% glad that I did - definately call this is exactly what it's for.

redddssak · 17/03/2024 10:44

I called my loacl birthing centre they said I can call triage however, sounds like stretching, growing pain, take paracetamol have a hot water bottle and relax so im going to do that until tomorrow relax a lot and call midwife at my gp as its not as bad now but still painful
