Early pregnancy loss/ blighted ovum experiences

I got a bfp on Sunday & tested the days after which were still positive but the lines have faded slightly & I started getting very light spotting yesterday & some more today. I have absolutely no pregnancy symptoms at all (I’ve had 3 full term pregnancies & this one just doesn’t feel the same - im fully expecting for it not to continue and I’m ok with that as I have 3 beautiful healthy children already) so I’m wondering can anyone share their experience of what happened for them? How long does it take for bleeding to properly start? I’ve only had 2 days of light spotting so far… I’m on CD37 and usually get my period around CD30 so over a week late now. Xx

I have had both an early loss and a blighted ovum.

The “chemical”/early loss - my tests didn’t get any darker and one week later I bled like a period, no pregnancy symptoms but unlikely at 5 weeks anyway.

I experienced blighted ovum - found during a scan at 7 weeks, I then had to wait 2 weeks to confirm. Didnt resolve on its own, no bleeding, had surgical removal at 11 weeks. Had very little pregnancy symptoms but nausea was present as HCG was still high, albeit not as symptomatic as a healthy pregnancy. My gestational sac continued to grow as though there was a baby within it.

Is there a reason you think this is blighted ovum? If your tests are getting lighter that can be indicative of a chemical pregnancy but it’s not a sure science as other things will impact this too, such as urine dilution, time of day, brand of test, etc.

Hiya, thanks for sharing. Just whenever I read up - it makes sense to what I’m experiencing… I’ve had a couple of chemicals too but I feel the lines I got when testing were too dark this time. I have absolutely no symptoms compared to my 3 full term preganancies & I just have this strong intuition that something isn’t right… I got the light pinkish spotting again today (it’s not much) but again, something i never had in my successful pregnancies. Do you have any advice on what to do with regards to getting an earlier scan? Unless ofcourse anything more happens over the weekend. Thanks again, feel a bit lost just now as only my husband to speak to x

So I had one episode of pink spotting, rang the gp and she was very lovely and arranged a scan at the EPAU. I actually felt a fraud going as it was literally 1 drop of really light pink and I never saw it again! I did tell her I didn’t feel “as sick” as my previous pregnancies which may have influenced her decision.
An early scan wouldn’t determine blighted ovum, as you generally don’t see anything in the gestational sack until 6 weeks+. How many weeks are you? My EPAU won’t consider referrals before 6 weeks.

I will add from the start I felt like I “knew” something wasn’t right, I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and I’ve not had that feeling once during this pregnancy, despite having two miscarriages in a row. I am in a mum group and lots of people have had spotting and been absolutely fine also, some even don’t feel pregnant.. So I think everything you are experiencing could be nothing or something! X

I’m 5+2 so I next thursday I’ll be 6w… I’ve had 3 mornings of pinkish spotting so that at least would be the truth & hopefully get me seen sooner (again, before, I’ve never had to do this as the chemicals ended by this stage & my healthy pregnancies I didn’t have any reason to be seen till 12w scan!
Do you mean you felt you “knew” something was up in the previous pregnancy where it was a b/o? I’ve never had this feeling before & sometimes I’m doubting it thinking maybe I’ve convinced myself I’m not because it was a surprise to begin…. But deep down I just don’t feel pregnant! Honeslty feel like I’m going crazy!
So glad things are progressing well for you this time? Do you have other children? Xx

Hiya, just wanted to update & to get your thoughts… I had a scan at EPU today (I’m 6w tomorrow) sonographer couldn’t see much by normal scan so had to get an internal one… she said could see “start of a little baby” but that my dates seemed earlier going by measurements… (I can pinpoint last period & when we must have conceived as it only happened once 😂) so I know they aren’t out. My scan says fetus = 1.7mm yet when I read online, measurements are generally bigger by this stage. I’m still getting light spotting with no obvious symptoms… wondering if you have any thoughts on this? I’ve to go back for another scan a week today xx
