Do I trust the pregnancy tests?

Hi all,

I am 39 and started TTC with my partner last year. In that time I have had two early pregnancy losses, both around 4+6 with my most recent being two months ago. When I had these pregnancies I had very mild “cramping” (hard to explain just a feeling that I could perceive my uterus if that makes sense?) and increase in white/clear discharge with some flatulence.

I was about to start letrozole this month but my period has not appeared. I used to be very regular every 28 days prior to my miscarriages and that would have been yesterday if I remained regular. I started spotting last week, some light red blood when I opened my bowels and then some dark brown discharge. I wore panty liners but did not need a pad and it seems to have settled down in the last few days.

I assumed that the spotting was just post miscarriage as it happened last year with all my cycles after we lost the pregnancy, but when I didn’t come on today I started to wonder what was happening. I took an ‘Easy @ Home’ test (not my first urine of the day unfortunately) and I’ve got a faint positive line?! I don’t have any of the above symptoms I had in my last pregnancies and now I’m wondering if this is a true positive and whether those symptoms were actually signs that the pregnancies were in trouble - more the cramping sensation.

I am not sure that I am looking for anyone to tell me what is happening, I’ll take another test tomorrow morning if I still haven’t started bleeding and then contact the fertility clinic. I am hoping if I am pregnant then they will give me progesterone to try and prevent the risk of further miscarriage. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings. This is not what I was expecting to happen and I don’t want to get my hopes up incase it’s a false positive or I have another loss in the next few days.

Hello, it’ll be a real positive. Congratulations. They sound like pregnancy symptoms caused by HCG which you would have with that hormone in your system regardless of pregnancy outcome x

I've never had a positive myself but from all the line eyes pics I have seen, this is deffo a very strong positive. Congratulations 🎊

That’s a good positive! If you’ve had bleeding it’s NICE guidance to be prescribed progesterone if you’ve had previous losses

That is a beautiful positive test! Congratulations! 😊 It's not faint by any means, particularly if not first urine of the day.

Don't worry about symptoms being different. Mine have been a bit different every time (5 pregnancies, 3 unfortunately ending in loss). I have however had 'pre-period cramps' before every BFP that have convinced me AF was on the way. I had lots of white CM when pregnant with my son and my MMC and none in my current pregnancy (currently 18 wks). It really can vary loads even in the same person.

As PP said, you should get progesterone as you've had some spotting/bleeding and a history of previous losses. Definitely ask about this. I think Tommy's website have informed on it you can share with your care provider if needed.

Wishing you all the best for your little rainbow baby 🙏🏼🌈💕

That's positive. Fingers crossed.

I had cramping and spotting at implantation. I'm now 37 weeks pregnant.

Thank you everyone. I’ve spoken to the fertility clinic and they have issued me with a prescription for Cyclogest pessaries. I’m praying for a successful pregnancy this time!
