I am currently 13w 1d. I went for my scan yesterday and all seems fine apart from the NT measurement of 3.8mm. We have 2 healthy boys so it's a huge shock. I have been referred to John Radcliffe for another scan. They have taken blood but the results won't be back until next week. My anxiety is through the roof. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

We had 3.2mm with DS1, everything is completely fine :) I did a lot of research at the time as I was so worried, and 3.8mm didn’t seem that unusual with lots of happy outcomes! If you search Mumsnet for the issue there’s loads of threads about it where the baby has been totally fine, even with much thicker NT

I understand the worry though, it was a really hard couple of weeks for us waiting for blood results to come back. Did everything else look okay with baby?

If you repost on the antenatal tests forum you might get some more responses. I don't have experiences with a higher NT but we did have a higher chance screening due to bloods and all was fine on the NIPT. I do understand the horrible waiting though, the ARC charity have an excellent helpline if you want to talk it through with someone.

@Whattodo789 everything else looked fine on the scan. It was just the NT levels. I guess it's just a waiting game now to see the specialist at John Radcliffe and wait for test results

Amniocentesis results came back today and our baby doesn't have Down Syndrome, Edwards or Pataus. Heart Scan at 16 weeks was all good too. Just waiting for the additional results to come back for any other Chromosome abnormalities and another heart scan at 20 weeks. So far so good 😊

Just in case it helps you or anyone else with this in future, my little boy has a NT of 3mm and we had a 1/30 chance of Down’s syndrome. He was just born with a big head and still has a big head (like the rest of us in our family 😅)
