How long did it take you to conceive? *possible TW*

Sorry if this is a trigger for anyone.

Just wondering how many children you have and how long it took you to conceive your children?

I have two DC

Both conceived very quickly.

We also had one MC.

Looking to try again for a third and was just curious how long it took you.

DS first cycle age 35
Ectopic pregnancy 1st cycle age 37
Current pregnancy 2nd cycle age 38

DC1 we did NTNP to avoid putting on too much pressure. I’d just come off the pill and my cycles were all over the place which can’t have helped. That lasted 16 months without a hint of a bfp so we then tried ‘properly’ and conceived on month 3.
DC2 we tracked ovulation etc from the start and conceived month 4.

It has been varying for me (although only my third was actually planned). My first was 6 months into my relationship I got pregnant we ended up splitting up after she was born and I met my husband,again, we weren't trying but not being careful either lol it took 3 months for me to conceive my second daughter, my third was planned and I was pregnant in the first cycle trying which was probably luck, I am now pregnant with my 4th and there is a 7 year gap between this pregnancy and my last wasn't trying wasn't preventing for all that time, massive gap between but we weren't really doing it as much with being a bit older so maybe that's why it took so long

First - 2 and half years
Current pregnancy - 11 years. We have up hope tbh.

Dc1 4 years, conceived following fertility treatment (1st round). Dt were conceived after 6 rounds of treatment (my last attempt as costs, the effect on my health were taking a toll).

#1 first cycle
#2 2 years after many miscarriages
#3 (currently pregnant) 6 months

Good luck OP, there is such varying degrees of 'luck' it seems

DC1 - third month of TTC
DC2 and DC3 - first month of TTC
No other pregnancies.
I realise I've been very lucky.

Took me 3 months to conceive baby 1

About 20 months, a little more possibly, for DC1. Currently just over two years into ttc DC2 and nothing.
while it’s pretty tough going emotionally, I do feel we’ve been ‘lucky’ (if that’s the right word!) that we’ve not had miscarriages or any other losses.

Three months and one month.

DC1 first cycle (age 27) but we'd had a period the previous year of trying for 10m before I received an inconclusive smear so stopped for a while.

DC2 first cycle (age 34)

DC3 did pull out method once as we had no protection in (lockdown) (age 39)

I seemed to get pregnant each cycle...but..miscarried. so 2 years. It was a lot of loss and a very distressing experience.

I have 1 and 1 on the way. We are not going through it again, so getting permanent contraception in place. 😬

1st dc 18months
Now ttc number 2 and I'm 4 months In...

First child I was on the pill and unplanned
Second child 1st month planned
Third child 2nd month but resulted sadly in loss was also planned. I was 40 by then and we decided to stop at two as I had a traumatic PG loss and some health issues for a few months after,

I get pregnant every time I have unprotected sex (no exaggeration, I've been pregnant 9 times), but I had a number of miscarriages. 1 DS and 17 weeks with my second.

I have two DC and both were conceived first cycle. I was aged 31 and 33.

So many different answers which is interesting thank you all for sharing.

Does anyone know if this looks like I'm at my peak ovulation?

Surprised the line is that dark as I was due my period the past few days and it's not arrived. Pregnancy tests are negative so maybe my cycle is a bit haywire.

Looks positive ovulation to me. What cycle day are you? I always ovulate day 21-23 instead of the normal 14ish.

Baby 1 - conceived first month off the pill
Baby 2 - conceived month 3 but hadn't been having much sex really
Baby 3 - ectopic conceived month 2
Baby 4 - miscarriage conceived month after ectopic
Baby 5 - conceived 3 weeks after miscarriage

Husband will be getting the snip after this one!

12 years for number 1!
6 rounds of IVF, 3 IUI, 3 donor embryo transfers. 2 chemical pregnancies, 1 early miscarriage and 1 MMC
It's been a journey. Almost 25 weeks now and all going well even though I'm now 40!

First cycle off birth control

Came off the pill Feb 2020 age 32 and only had first BFP this year in Feb 2024 age 36. Had to have tubes removed and 2 rounds of IVF/ICSI.

Currently 32 weeks pregnant with 1st DC, conceived first cycle. I have PCOS and was told we'd probably need help so it did come as a surprise.

We fell pregnant on first try with first but unfortunately resulted in a MC

First DD was 1 month after MC
Second DD was first try

Hopefully we will fall pregnant soon with our 3rd and final soon as im 34 now so I'd rather it be sooner rather than later.

First pregnancy (ended in mc): 4 months

Dc1: 2 months

Dc2: 14 months (we were just starting investigations as we thought something was wrong when I fell pg).

Dc3: 0 time. Impregnated through a (properly used) condom, at the totally wrong time of month. We're still baffled as to how it happened 😂
Seemed all the stranger when considering how we struggled to conceive dc2!
