Hi,

Wondering if someone might have ever been in a similar situation or even just be able to give me some reassuring words…

I am nearly 9 months PP and have just found out I am pregnant again. This has come as a major shock as me and my partner have been using protection religiously as we were not ready to try for another baby yet. I know there is not a 100% effective rate for contraception but this has still come as a massive shock to me. We did always want another baby in the future so we are happy but finding it hard to wrap our heads around currently.

My main concern is I had an EMCS and I’m really scared being pregnant so soon will cause some sort of rupture. I’ve also heard that having EMCS when fully dilated can lead to preterm labour in future pregnancies.

Also the thought of 2 babies under 2 years old also worries me.

I am going to speak to my GP and seek some medical advice but if anyone has been in a similar situation and can can share any experience or anything I’d really appreciate it.

Thank you x

I had a 15 month gap between my first two, was also using contraception so a massive shock. It was fine though managing the two of them & lovely that they liked to do the same things and both slept during the day at same time which gave me s chance to put washing on, prep for dinner, have a break! I didn’t have a c-section with my first had an EMCS with my second, I was fully dilated and was never told it could cause any issues with my 3rd who was born 2 years after my EMCS. My children are teenagers now but it use to be the advice to wait for 1 year between c-sections I don’t know if that is still correct?

I am 5 months pregnant now and was 9m pp with my little boy when we got pregnant. I also had an emergency c section and was worried about what the doctors would say and the impact on my body but no one is worried. I have been advised another c section as there is a danger of scar rupturing during vaginal delivery but that's really alls that has been mentioned!

It's scary the thought of 2 under 2 - I totally feel you but take each day at a time. My son is now 14 months and has noticed my belly and kisses it saying baba. its going to be hard work but they will be best buddies 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Sorry, should say 8 months PP, not 5!

I had an emergency section with my first. Fell pregnant when 11 months PP (planned). Had a successful VBAC with second baby - they did want me in the labour ward rather than the maternity unit for delivery so that they could keep an eye on me. 20 month age gap - I wouldn’t change it for the world, my husband would have (in hindsight) liked a bigger age gap as the exhaustion from the last 2 years has been tough, but youngest is 2.5 and we feel like we are now coming out the other side now! Good luck!

There are 14 months between my first two, 1st birth was emergency c section, second elective c section. All went well, although I did too much and needed a repair after the abdominal stitching failed (hernia?). You have a bigger gap and you'll be fine. Congratulations!

@Raexxxx I have to admit when I found out I was pregnant the second time, it was a complete shock. Always wanted two but didn't expect quite so soon! I spent the first 12 weeks constantly worrying about impact on career, finances, as well as health of baby and potential complications. I am currently sat cuddling my 5 week old and wish I had enjoyed that time and not worried so much and enjoyed it!
